Development of the pedestrian anger expression inventory

Objective There has been extensive research into road user behavior, although how pedestrians express their anger yet to be explored. This is important given the high vulnerability of and additional risks that angry people often undertake. The present study developed a tool measure one’s tendency engage in aggressive acts while walking: pedestrian expression inventory (PAX).Methods survey consisted 37 items adapted from Driving Anger Expression Inventory as well subset Pedestrian Behavior Questionnaire. Ten Trait Scale (TAS) questionnaire were also used assess general tendencies individuals. A total 475 participants Tehran provided complete responses administered via paper pencil.Results Principal Component Analysis showed 30-item, 3-factor model describing three ways expressing anger: 1) Expression-In (internalizing anger), 2) Expression-Out (in form aggression), 3) Adaptive/Constructive (dealing with constructive way). Hierarchical linear regression trait was significant predictor expression, above other demographic variables (age gender). However, age gender remained predictors anger. As increased, become walking decreased. Male significantly more likely aggressively than female pedestrians.Conclusions In this study, we pedestrians, highlighting broad deal (internally, externally, or constructively). Iran therefore, further required validate these tools among different samples populations.
